As an avid blogger, I often find responses from users that are extremely flagrant and hateful. There has been enough hate among us. Plain and simple, if you find that you disagree with something, find a manner in which to voice this with respect. I have often used the words "coon" or "coonery" in describing actions black people have partaken in that I didn't like. In doing so, I was using the same terminology towards fellow black people that white people had used to marginalize and debase them for centuries. Yes, I understand what you mean; don't think you are the only one who speaks this way: I, too have done it, but I wish for us to change the way we speak towards each other. I disagree with people all of the time, however it would make more sense for me to listen to them, and for them to listen to me civilly, as you said, than to argue. Let's face it, will we ever really change each other's minds? The purpose of this site is for us to share with each other. I am honored to finally become a part of this opportunity to talk and listen to the people that are entering here. I hope that whether you have done everything that you want to do or not, it has been a mighty good day. I agree the more you can spend time and energy thinking and speaking respectfully, you are planting a lot more of what you would rather be reaping. If you find that too many people are being to disrespectful in dialog, it could be that you have been sewing to many seeds of the same.
